I found a phone and handed it in to a police station.

They got me to fill in a form and told me that if no one claims the phone I will get it. 'Woo hoo' I heard myself say, a new phone! Well not strictly new but as mine's knackered it can't be any worse.

Can anyone tell me if this actually happens and, if so, how long would I have to wait before I'd get it if no-one has claimed it?

If you're near Ards,I have a gash Nokia 6136 you can have,It needs a charger & a Turbo Sim (to unlock it)

It has a small 'bloom' on the outer screen tho.
  • Hi

What police station did you leave it in to please? My daughter's friend has lost her phone. I know it's unlikely to be hers but you never know.....

    Thanks

I handed it in to the closest police station to where I found it. If your daughter's friend has lost her phone then I would advise trying to think where she lost it and check the nearest station. I don't want to put too many details on here just in case someone tries to claim the phone who's not the real owner. I'm sure the battery will have died by now and I don't know how the police will ask an owner to prove the phone is theirs.

I've twice found phones (once at Thorpe park, and once on the Underground) and got them back to their rightful owners by calling people on their phonebook.

That's what I intended to do but, although the phone was on, it appeared to have some sort of keypad code lock so I couldn't access anything.
