I forgot to mention my aunt lives in another country!
How about keeping a spare button, or a little sample (cut from the inside hem where no one would notice) of your most favourite clothes and put them in a memory box / family scrapbook?Context is all.

Take 'photos then get rid!:DYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

Why don't you cut some of them up into good size squares & when you have nothing to do one day you could make a quilt or something. My mum use to do that with some of our clothes that she loved the material and we had outgrew them. Especially the ones that are brand new but are out of style now.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0

i agree with ebaying the good stuff / brand new stuff
freecycle / carboot / charity shop the rest
you get to declutter AND make a bit of £££ in the process0 -
I often declutter my friends houses for them as I am utterly ruthless! What I tend to do is:
Do one bag/cupboard at a time. If you do a whole room it soon feels hopeless!
Sort out the clothes and put into the following piles:
Pile1 )anything that has a stain/ hole can't be repaired.
Pile 2 ) anything that you feel a family memeber would like
Pile 3 ) Pile for charity
Pile 4) Pile for ebay ( things that were expensive, or that you think will sell.
With Pile I, in London (my borough anyway, so check) the council will take fabrics and clothes for recycling when they do the normal recyling pick up0 -
and then make sure that you actually throw/recycle, give away to friends and family or charity or post on ebay!
Good luck!0 -
I'd say ebay the stuff with price tags on/other new stuff. Then take the rest and anything that didn't sell to a car boot sale. Anything unwearable/unsaleable cut up either for rags or to make a quilt or similar. Anything left over give to charity. If it's no good to sell then they'll sell it to the rag man so they'll still get something for it. Sometimes they'll send things which are in good condition but they wouldn't sell (e.g. out of style stuff) for people where ther's been some kind of disaster.0

Wish I'd seen LuckyLurkey's post last night!
Got up this morning and emptied 7 drawers of clothes, they are also all over the floor now, with last nights lot, its so daunting.
I have 'Found' 27 new sets with tags still on, bra & brief sets. They are all size 36C I am 36D, must have liked them and thought I'd slim into them................OMG. Won't be telling hubby that tonight.
Just had a note through the door saying there is a local fete on tomorrow, with stalls to hire for £10........................maybe fate.
Rang them and they are going to check if any more stalls left then call me back, fingers crossed.

Good luck - just remember to be ruthless with them! Hope you get a stall! and I would definitely sell the bra and brief sets on ebay!0

Just wanted to say, you sound a bit down about being size 18 at the moment (((HUGS))) but it doesn't mean your clothes have to be "shapeless". I'm an 18 too as I'm not able to get much exercise at present , but I got sick of feeling a mess and threw out all my shapeless clothes and try to buy only clothes that make the best of the good bits!:p
Thyroid probs are such a pain, aren't they! My neighbour's weight goes up and down like a yo-yo due to hers, and I've got "multi-nodular goitre" (i.e. a knobbly thyroid!):D0
