I had this problem too, might be worth phoning customer services to place your order manually to overide the problem, they are very helpful. They seem to be removing clearance items as we speak so maybe it will work once they have all been removed?

The Debenhams clearance checkout appears not to be working right now - a blessing in disguise maybe as I was trying to buy the Vera Wang Look 100ml perfume at £36 and then enter the discount code for 10% off. Being rather impatient I did a google search and found it on sale at The Perfume Shop for £29.99 inc free 200ml body lotion too which Debenhams sells for £61.60!! Bargain!
Am hoping though that my purchase off a wedding gift list using the discount code for 20% off has worked as it didn't show at checkout the other day.....
