when and how to pay tax

Hi,

I have just submitted my self assessment tax return. Now do I just subtract my previous payment on account from the tax due and pay using BillPay (its too late for direct debit)?

My account still says there nothing to pay and that the return has been submitted but not received.. do I have to wait until its been received to make payment? Obviously I'm running out of time.

thanks,
Gareth

  • Your online account may take around 24 hours to get updated with the exact amount to pay, taking into account last July's POA and a POA for the next tax year. They often update overnight, so you may get the exact amount due in the morning.

I paid by direct transfer, but people have been recommending BillPay as it is faster.

You can always pay an estimate and sort out the difference later.
