in Cutting tax
I have just had a letter from the tax office to say that they are using code H0 on all my income i have a pension that I was given my allowance on and a part time job that i was taxed from 1p up wards at standard rate. I phoned gave my income for both less that £33.000 per year. I am not sure what action they will take as I cannot meet my commitments if I pay 40% on everything. Has anyone had a problem with there tax codes from April 2010. Also after phoning them what is the normal course of action for the tax office to take.

Well, from the info you've provided them with they'll correct your tax codes. Was your code notice for 10/11 tax year, if so then it'll all be sorted long before April when the new tax year starts. These codes have not gone to any employers or pension providers as yet.0

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply..Yes it was for 2010/2011. I have also sent a letter to back up the phone call hope it gets sorted 40% is a lot of tax.
thanks again0 -
I also received a letter yesterday advising me that I was going to be taxed from April 2010. I have a small pension and part-time job which just keeps me under the tax threshold. I was going to phone and query it today but then saw in a news article that the Tax Office sent out thousands of letters this week with the wrong tax codes on. They have advised people who are affected to ring next week after the rush for the Jan 31st deadline is over. Hope this helps.
