Urgent - Need Ex To Buy Me Out

Hi, this is pretty urgent. I bought a house with my partner (now ex) last year using the equity from a house I already had. I left him 6 months ago due to his bullying nature and now he is refusing/stalling on buying me out. I am totally broke as I am continuing to pay half the mortgage on that property plus my existing one. I want my money back! Am I legally allowed to stop paying my half of the mortgage as I am no longer living there? I am totally desperate - I have consulted a solicitor but my ex is still stalling saying "he needs to gather more information". The short of it is, I want my money, I am sick of paying half the mortgage for somewhere I no longer live in. What on earth can I do????

If it is a joint mortgage, then you are both liable to keep up the payments.
It sounds like a situation which requires quick action as if your ex stopped paying his share, you could be in an even more terrible situation. Sorry but I feel that is true.
If you have only had the property six months, you may well lose some of the cash you invested on costs as the market has not had time for you to create extra equity.
I feel better help will come along for you on this forum so keep looking.
Good luck

I feel sorry for you ending up in this situation which must be even worse if he is a bully too, what has your solicitor said?? you can't stop paying your half of the mortgage or you will get into arrears and this will affect your credit rating for years to come, then when you come to get another mortgage you will end up on a higher rate.
One suggestion is to get back into the property whilst he is not around, get a locksmith to change the lock and buy a big fat vicious rottweiler. Then take over the whole mortgage payment yourself. I am not saying that in a joking way either, sometimes you have to play dirty in order not to get ripped off, and if your ex is messing you around, you have to show him you mean business and stand up to him.I am a Mortgage Adviser
