what if I dont pay them?

Hi, I had an agreement with one of these home learning companys, I was goinng to take this course and pay an amount each month, now I have told them i no longer wish to be on the course nor pay as my circs have changed dramtically since starting the course. this was a few months back. I have never had more than a couple of textbooks from them.
They sent through some things they terminated my old agreement and about setting up a new payment plan which i never returned, I meant to write back and explain but i never did...ok my fault. They never got in touch again and I assumed they had just wiped out my record, (They have been paid some 600 pound from me) they have now e-mailed saying i am in arrears of 4 months in the plan they sent, which i never agreed to.
Now i have had my credit checked and it does not show this finance on it, i dont know if it has any relevance? The apparent credit to pay the course was "in house" by the company themselves.
If i refuse to pay them does anyone know what may happen? As i never agreed to this new plan they appear to have set up? But the debt also does not show on my credit report?
As i have been flamed before please no comments on grammer etc. If needed i can write just fine.
I realise a lot of people are going to say "tough pay them" but can they really chase me for cash which i have never recived for a course i cannot complete?

they wont have terminated your old agreement. Look at the wording properly.
They will chase you for it. You agreed to pay them for a course, you have breached the contract. The agrrment will be watertight, they are not as stupid as you think they are.
You will be taken eventually to court, You will have court costs to pay, if you dont pay then you will have bailiffs cost and then you will have a ccj and your credit record will be trashed.
You really dont have any choice.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Agree wholly with McKneff.
It may be a good idea to check your spelling, before asking people not to make comments on your grammar.Gone ... or have I?0 -
From reading this thread, it would appear that the provider did try to fulfil their part of the contract.Gone ... or have I?0

Im just at a loss what to do, i feel the company has misled me, its causing major arguments between me and my other half.
They want 5 grand for a course i dont want to do, which i still must pay although i have seen no money from them.0
