Income based JSA 'Zero' payment possible?

Sorry, the thread title may be confusing. I'll try and explain.
I lost my job a week ago and am about to claim JSA. I am claiming contribution based and also wish to claim income based.
I am married, homeowner, a 2 yr old and new baby due any day now.
My wife is on Maternity Allowance at the moment (£123 per week). We also get CTC.
I should be entitled to contribution based JSA(I hope), as I have worked solid since leaving Uni 4 years ago and always earned a decent salary.
However I am worried that I will not get income based JSA due to my wifes income ( the MA which is £123 per week). The reason I need income based JSA is so that we can get help with the mortgage interest (after 13 weeks) and also it would entitle us to more CTC.
My questions are:
1. Would my wife's MA take us past the threshold to get any income based JSA?
and
2. If so, will I qualify for income based JSA, but just with a zero payment (thereby meaning I can get the other related benefits like the mortgage interest help) or will I be declined income based JSA all together meaning I will not get any help with mortgage interest?
Many thanks for any replies.

1. Yes
2. Not sure about the mortgage thing but you will have an underlying entitlement to income based JSA, just nilled on EIOR0 -
Hopefully you will have another job before the 6 months is up when you would be transferred to income based JSA.
Your OP reads as if you think you can claim both types of JSA at the same time. I'm sure you know this isn't possible.0 -

You can. Contribution based JSA can be topped up with income based JSA if you have a partner and/or dependant children.
I hope to have a new job ASAP however I need to prepare for the worst case scenario.
What is EIOR?0 -
