Bugsy Malone costume - by tomorrow!!! Advice?

Options
Don't you love it when kids do this to you.....

DD1 has just arrived home from school, she's got a part in the school production of Bugsy and needs a costume a.s.a.p - 1st dress rehersal tomorrow (she couldn't audution until today due to being off ill)...

So I now need some ideas......she was told - something 1920/30's style...... really helpfull!!

I've got some peacock blue satin, enough to make a simple shift dress with shoestring straps.....would that work???

Any ideas greatfully received....

Thanks

    That would definately work

Maybe a string of long beads round her neck, and a headband with a feather in it round her head. Maybe just the dress for tomorrow and a trip round the charity shops to complete the outfit before opening night

oh Pooky you poor thing, my children do this sort of thing to me all the time. The shift dress sounds good. Have you any beads, I have it in my head that they wore a lot of beads then and can you use some of the fabric to make some sort of a head band, maybe with some feathers? I'll post if I can think of anything else.

What about a feather boa to drape around her shoulders. You poss could get one in the charity shop or woolies maybe.

Ohhhh good idea - there's one lurking in the dressing up box.....will dig it out and see what I can do.

Thanks for the bead idea too - will get her threading - there's loads of beads in the house!

I'm off to unearth the sewing machine!

There is a great 1920's top here. I keep promising to make myself one.

Well - this is what we came up with - I'll do the necklace tonight - got some shocking pink beads that should tie in nicely......
