Can only suggest doing a search of this forum for scar reducing ideas, sorry a bit too tired to do it myself. I think Bio-oil and vitamin E oil were both recommended. I know it's not strictly scarring, but they might be worth thinking about if these don't feel like skin?
But is your friend getting help for her depression? I mean, I understand that you get into a vicious cycle with depression, but I just wonder if there's more to it than just the stretch marks. We sometimes use "If only ..." as an excuse, when actually there are deeper problems.
Does that make sense?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
My 14 year old daughter has stretch marks and she is becoming increasingly upset about them, so I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread.
I'm hoping they will fade.
One minute she was thin with no shape and the next within a few months she had boobs and a behind. She grew so suddenly that she has stretch marks on the side of her breasts and on her behind too0 -
Same thing happened to me, Sally. Mine have faded to silver over the years (the ones on my tum were angry and pink and wide to start with) and don't bother me now. DH has stretch marks even though he's always been skinny. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

I don't think there's a lot you can do, though they do fade with time. The best thing I've ever used is Bio Oil. It's quite expensive but goes a long way, and it really does quicken the fading process.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0

For stretch marks I would recommend any of the following: bio-oil, vitamin E cream or Palmers cocoa butter stretch mark cream.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

I have to say BIO OIL BIO OIL BIO OIL...........
I cannot get enough of the stuff. I have had several operations and used the stuff on a rather severe scar on my tummy that they have cut through several times.
I rub it in 2 times a day and it's helped so much. It is recommended for stretch marks and for pregnancy marks etc
Good luck - hope this helps

Also, using a loofah on the area...followed by bio-oil is a good strategy...We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Palmers cocoa body lotion actually says on the bottle that it's recommended for reducing the appearance of stretch marks.0

Stretch marks do fade to a silvery colour and so not that noticable as you might think. They are like scars and so you are kind of stuck with them. Keeping the skin moisturised and supple may help prevent further stretchmarks but we all get them if we have a growth spurt/put on weight because of pregnancy etc.
I dont let mine bother me these days, even men get them (although my OH wont admit to having any lol).
