Hi all,
Just thought I'd mention, I've been paying my council tax on-line with a cashback credit card for a few months. Neither of the council's where I have lived charged a processing fee for credit cards (and it means I get those few days extra days' interest on my money!)
Check your local council's website and see if they'll let you do the same!
(Not a bad way to make it 1% cheaper - not sure if they take Amex though - maybe some of your could get 5% back!)
This also means you can spread the cost yourself if you need to (0% for a few months maybe on the right card!) if your council doesn't offer a monthly schedule option.
Happy money saving.

Bristol City Council charge 1.8% for paying by credit card, so definitely check that first.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
