can I save my failed icing?!

Hiya, just wondered if anyone can help - I made some fairy cakes at the weekend. I had some leftover icing from a previous batch (butter, milk and icing sugar.) I thought it'd be a good idea to add a drop of whisky to the icing for a different flavour - but it just made the mixture way too runny.
Then I tried to save it by adding a) more icing sugar, and b) egg whites and beating - but all I suceeded in doing was doubling the ampunt of mixture and making it almost unbearably sweet! It's now sitting in the fridge taking up space - can anyone think of a way I can save it, or is it destined for the bin now?
Thanks

can you take a small blob of that and add it to a new batch of butter and see how it goes? i 'spose then you are risking more butter on it though.
would a little bit of cornflour work do you think? im not sure.It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

Don't think you can eat uncooked cornflour! I'd just use icing sugar but it will be sweet! What about ground almonds?Less is more0

ooh - yes. I do have some almonds - that could work.... I'm loathe to use more icing sugar as it's already just about as sweet as I can stand!0

I think almonds would work really well, but I am a 'nutty' person!:rotfl:Less is more0
