Fixed rate - Penalty clause

Hi,

A few months ago we remortgaged to a 5 year fixed RBS mortgage @ 4.69%.

At the time it was what we felt we needed, but now we have finally decided to leave the UK at the end of the year.

In our mortgage contract it states that we would incurr a penalty for early redemption, 5% in the first 5 years, 4% in within the 4 years etc etc

I know it's a long shot but does anyone think there maybe a way for us to get RBS to waiver any early redemption fees, I mean £3/4K is a good chunk of money.

I must stress at the time we signed we obviously did not know what path our lives took and would we of known about this life changing event we would obviously not have signed the fixed deal.

Do you think it's worth a try, but how should I approach it???
