I have a big tub of natural yoghurt that goes out of date today:
I have some left over cooked chicken breasts - didnt know if I could make a curry with yoghurt? I have every imagineable spice.
But I also have some peaches and pears (fresh) and lots of bags of dried apricots - does anyone have a cake type recipe that requires yoghurt?
or any other suggestions would be great
TIA

Yoghurt is lovely in curry dishes. Makes it really rich and tones down hot spices. Use half and half in the main meal and then a nice desert, mmmmmm0

thanks for your reply - can I just ask a stupid question - what should I use half a half with the yoghurt in the curry? was thinking of doing a tin of tomatoes, some yoghurt and the spices???0

I think that pupsicola meant half in main course half in pud.
When adding yog do so to warm not hot liquid or it will split. To avoid this, if you want to add yoghurt and then raise temperature, add some cornflour to the yoghurt as though making a white sauce ie add a little to a couple of teaspoonfuls and stir in, then stir in the rest, then heat as required. In this way you can substitute yoghurt for cream in kormas etc0 -
Just for the record, yoghurt usually lasts way longer than the use by date - especially when it hasn't been opened.0

I make a curry paste with tinned toms, onion, chillies, ground cumin, garlic and fresh ginger all whizzed up. Cook this for a few minutes and then add whatever meat and veg you want. Right before you're serving, stir in some yogurt and warm through. The recipe I use says cream but I've always used yogurt to keep it low fat.0

I would also suggest a curry with the yoghurt. Other recipes I use yoghurt for are Irish soda bread, or instead of cream with caramelised banana's. I love the contrast of the hot, sweet caramel and the cold tart yoghurt!Less is more0

You can freeze any you don't use.0

If you are planning to make a curry you could do cucumber raita to go with it. Chopped cucumber, mint (or a spoonful of mint sauce ) and plain yoghurt. Takes the heat out of a hot curry.
For dessert, what about yoghurt jelly. Use yoghurt instead of half of the water - serve with your peachesGC Feb £95.45/£1000 -
I made a quick dessert type thing the other day with tinned peaches (drained off most of the juice) covered in yoghurt and topped with Jordans Country Crisp type cereal and a drizzle of caramel sauce (just brown sugar and butter). That was quite niceThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0

Why yes. Yes I do.
CYCIf you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0
