Was our country ever content?

Reading so many posts lately full of anger - we're wasting our money on benefit scroungers and public sector workers, the bankers are stuffing their wallets and laughing at us, the goverment is screwing our future up...and on and on it goes.
I'm 36 and tbh I didn't taking any notice of the news or politics before Labour got in, though I vaguely remember people slagging off Maggie and being glad when she went. I'm wondering now if this country ever DID feel right or was everyone still feeling this angry 20, 30, 50 years ago?

No, I don't think so. It's the web of lies and deceit, fostered by the Labour govt, that have led us down a path of self-destruction. Honour and integrity seem to belong to a past era.

We wait to see whether Dave's lot are going to be more of what we've got used to, or whether we can have some small bit of hope for something better....... :undecided

Of course it was, before Labour let immigrants flood in, deliberately creating divisive rifts in society they could exploit for electoral gains.

You only have to see newsreels of the 1950's to see a happy, integrated society of families before the sky-rocketing tax burden to featherbed seekers, scroungers and public sector numpties meant that both partners have to work. Also, no one knew or cared about Muslims droning on and on about their 'rights' and the faux 'laws' of their prophet, or risked being blown apart by the residents of Luton.

People will never be happy with their lot and always think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. It's a part of being human and not limited to the British (although we are renowned for being a bunch of moaners). I was born in the 70s and as a child I remember the recurrent theme being the cold war and political cartoons such as When the Wind Blows. It was very scary as a child.

Why do you think the Aussies call us whinging Poms?

If you have nothing bad to moan about in your life, there is always the weather!
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

On the other hand, if we had no vision of anything better, then we might be a self-satisfied nation, oblivious of our weaknesses and the injustices within!;)

Obviously, your experience of the 50s was gained through newsreels.

The 50s were 'good' because they were better than the 30s and 40s. Having parents who decided to get the hell out of London, due to the increasing possibility of nuclear war, I have other memories.

The family downstairs may have had something to do with it too, as they were far from 'intregrated,' especially when forced to be together at weekends!:rotfl:

No.This country is strife torn and the ruling classes like it that way. Let he Proletariat fight and bicker amongst themselves whilst we live off the fat of the land. Every now and again they throw us another piece of meat to fight over, ably assisted by their agent provocateurs in the media.

One only has to look at our system of Government. Adversarial schoolboy japing with eachother. Fiddling whilst Rome burns. How can any country make progress when its leaders engage in jovial banter and argument with eachother, each blocking the others move like a giant game of chess.

The best thing anyone can do is insulate yourself from it. Dont buy papers, dont watch the news,,just get on with your own life. The media is full of negativity and it will drag you down for no purpose whatsoever. Dont engage in their petty, useless elections save for to register a protest vote for the highest scoring part below the useless three frontrunners Lab/Con/Lib.

Dont even think that your vote counts unless its a protest vote. See how they scream when people vote BNP? Make them scream louder.

    This country needs revolution.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
