I just add the potatoes to my online shop and then use the new ones and throw the old ones away.

You need to stop throwing them away just because you have a new bag. Use up the old ones before you open the new ones.

Just keep them in a cool dark place and they will last a long time. I keep mine in the fridge and they last for ages.

I keep my potatoes indoors but transfer them from plastic packaging into a hessian bag. I have a special Lakeland one, which is perfect. They last for much much longer this way (several weeks).

  • I always buy Nadine potatoes in a sack from the farm shop and tonight have almost come to the bottom. When I looked they are starting to shoot so I've put them on a tray and put them under my bed so the shoots grow and on Good Friday I shall plant them and then I will have free spuds!!
  • I always buy either King Edwards or maris piper in large sack which costs around a fiver,i find these are the best all round potatoes.

Roosters potatoes are very nice and are £1.47 for a 2kg pack, but somestimes are on offer for £1, they are well lush mashed and keep as well! We never through any out as since we've been buying them, we eat more potatoes now and actually finish a bag!
yeh i agree roosters are very nice...i purchased them by mistake while doing a "quick xmas" shop. I'm getting rather addicted to them...just wished they would make my waist n tummy shrink!!!;)

I just buying baking potatoes one shop then, when they are running low, I buy a pack of new potatoes and, when they are running low I buy baking potatoes again. That way I always have an overlap and therefore a choice a fair amount of the time. I only throw potatoes away if they are green or squashy, eyes just get pulled off!

  • The last potatoes I bought were in Morrisons, 1.5kilo for 30 pence!! I bought 4 bags!! They are unwashed so last a little longer (don't go green) and at that price I figured if I only ever used them for mash i was on a winner!! They have been great spuds. Need some more, and I bet they're not on at that price now :-(

i just bought 25 kg bag of maris piper potatoes from my local pet shop for £4.50. I have used some and so far so good! They will probably last 2 - 3 weeks (i hope).

The last lot I bought was the morrissons seconds £2.49 for 10 kg and was really impressed with them but i have heard some people saying they didnt last long (mine lasted a week and the ones at the bottom of the bag were fine when i used them).

I bought them too, still got about two bags worth in the fridge and they are as good as the day I bought them.

No, but Morrisons are doing 1kg bags of roosters for 30p

I used to buy the roosters, before i bought the 30p bags, because they keep so well.

There's only me and I use around one spud every two to 3 days, so there's no point in me buying huge bags.
