Dyeing crib bedding

I hope someone can help.
When we found out we were expecting another baby we brought a lovely swinging crib from a family we know. They gave us the pink cotton drapes and a pink cotton bumper/cover that went with it too. We have now found out our baby is of the blue variety(no not a smurf!) and so i am considering dyeing the bedding. The pattern is fairly neutral and we didn't pay for it so if it's a disaster it's not a huge loss but i've never dyed anything before!

i just wondered if anyone had any suggestions on how to go about it/ what to use?

Many thanks in advance

ive used the dylon washing machine dyes before and they've worked well, one point to note is that the colour of what you're dying will affect the final result, so a pink base colour and a blue dye might not give the colour it shows on the packet. although after looking on here you can now get predye stuff

Or you could go really Old Style and tell everyone that it's pink for a boy and blue for a girl since that's what it was for centuries.
  • i think dyelon do a colour remover, if you wanted white, or a plainer base colour so to keep it pastel if you do dye it. i think id pick a stronger colour if you are going to use a washing machine dye because pink with baby blue on top might be a bit of a yuckky combo.
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

My first child was a boy and arrived just at the same time we got ourselves a bigger mortgage and I packed in my job. My big sister passed down a vast amount of very welcome baby equipment plus lots of baby clothes she'd used for her two girls. Did I care? My son slept on pink sheets, wore pink vests and babygrows and I saved my meagre cash money to buy outdoor clothes in boy colours. I seriously doubt it did him any harm at all. If it was a girl baby and blue sheets would it bother you?
