Time to sort this life out diary

Hi All
Don't really know what to put if I'm being honest but every epic journey starts with a single step and all that, so I thought I'd get something typed out.
I,ve been using the website and reading the forums for over a year now. That's why my signature is a work in progress rather than a LBM. I just never produced my own thread or joined others.
However, this year I am determined to pay off my debts and generally sort my life out so thought I'd keep this written diary to help the progress, keep the motivation etc.
So the BIG plans are;
1- Get a new job with a higher salary than I'm currently on.
2- Pay off those debts
3- Save some money
4- Get out my skanky 1 bed flat and buy a house.
5- Have a holiday!
Piece of piddle.

Ok, Day 2
What's been achieved?
Well went back to work after a weeks holiday and was pleased to find the place was not a complete shambles. However I still filled out a load of applications for other jobs today. Going to aim to do 3 a day. Gota get more money rolling in!
Sent off a few things to music magpie, so I'm waiting for a cheque for a whole £10.11. Woohoo!! The aim is to make up whatever I spend by selling my old/unused things so I can pump as much of my wages into paying off the debts as possible. Might be time to join the 'Make £10 a day' challenge for Feb as it's my lil cousins birthday thurs and my work shoes have just decided to split in half. Oh the expense!
Payday 2moro. Gota get some money transfered. Pay off that overdraft in 1 hit and a chunk off the credit card, then try to spend as little as possible for the rest of the month.

4.20!!!
Yep I've been up for over 2 hours now. Not impressed! Silly, miserable old git above us doing his usual banging around. He needs to go in a home I swear. Council won't do anything about him, bless em. Apparently it's 'everyday living'. Now surely there's a clue in them 2 words?
Anyway, at least it's fueling the motivation to get things sorted and get out of this hellhole. Have already transfered the money I said I would last night so that's the overdraft gone and a little chunk off the tesco (apologies for swear word) credit card. A total of £684. Gotta love those snowball calculators.
Going to give the lil cousin a tenner for his birthday in a card. The card cost me 8p. I know you may be thinking what a cheapskate but he's at that age where spoken communication reverts to caveman grunting so I'm sure he wouldn't notice if the money was delivered to him between 2 bits of roadkill.
So with the £10.11 I'm waiting for from music magpie that's me 3p up. Trouble is I've got to get some work shoes today. Do I go cheap and they fall to pieces in 3-4 months or do I fork out 3 times as much in the hope they last me a year, fit better and have leather inners so my feet don't smell like hell itself?
There's only one way to logically solving this dilema. I must ask 1 question.

Like his career he'd try and fix it.
And that's what I've done with the shoes. £4.45 on some stick on soles seems to have done the job.
Also had to spend some more money the last couple of days. £41.85 on the shopping. This should be alot less next week as we needed everything this one. £20.01 on petrol. Don't you love the way the cashiers say 'Oh thats twenty pounds AND A PENNY! Please.' Yes I'm a prat, thanks for letting everyone else know.
Also spent £2.50 down the butchers on a couple of bits I forgot.
I have now decided to take it upon myself to do a 'make £5 a day challenge' so I can do my best to offset all my spending and those debts stay down. Another £48.32 of stuff sent off to musicmagpie today to help the cause.
Job search not going brilliantly. Not as much about this year as there was last. I should know I was made redundant. Have definatly felt the 20% pay cut all this year.
Went to view some new houses today that I could afford if I hadn't of had my head up my bum for the last 5 years and had no debts. They were amazing. Everything myself and OH have wanted. It was torture knowing that I couldn't just go 'yep I'll take it', but now thats got the motivation really going which was the main objective.Debts - Car £0/£3000Credit card £1500/£4250  OD £0/£1500 :T MBNA loan £0/£14000

Helloooooooooo.
Ok completed a few other bits for geting those debts down. £20 made on ebay sees me through another 4 days of my make £5 a day.
Also I have regretablly retired from my tues night football to save myself £5 a week. I really enjoy the exercise but it's another £20 a month I won't need to make up and I can go running for free anyway.
Just got turned down for a credit card which I was hoping to balance transfer at 0%. That could of saved me over £700 this year damn it.
Oh well, off to list sum more on ebay.

Hello germima. It seems like lots of people are getting knocked back for credit cards at the moment even if you have a good credit rating. I got rejected by Virigin for "having substantial credit terms available" which I think means they think I am being greedy and already have too many cards! A friend got rejected by HSBC the other day too despite the fact that he has no debt and always pays his cards of in full each month. Guess he didn't fit the "profile"!
Good luck with the debt clearance. It'll all be worth it when you get that new house...Got my head out of the sand - 01/01/2010

Hi Snow White,
I am going to take that as a compliment. I shall endeavour to carry on entertaining. Laugh or cry and all that.
Got a call from a guy about a job today and got cut off by my poor reception after about ten seconds. He left a voicemail with his details so here's hoping for tomorrow.
Didn't make any money today towards the challenge but had another NSD. That's 4 in a row now, a woohoo!
I also wanted to say hello to Corona007. I think your right. Although I've been a complete ninny with my debts I've always paid them on time. My credit score is 999 and it said that 95% of people have a lower one than that. Clearly they can see they're not going to make money out of me.
I can't wait until I've paid my debts off, not just to get the house but to use my Tesco (sorry, swear word) credit card for all my essential purchases and then pay it off in full each month. I'll then have a free weeks shopping off them every now and again. I should have got back all the intrest payments from them that way by the time I'm 87 and into pure profit by 88.
Yes Tesco (swear word) your days are numbered. Who's with me?!

1.30!!!!
Yes thats in the a.m. I've been up since then thanks to noisey git features upstairs. Somehow though I've suvived a 12 hour shift at work on 2 hours sleep.
Came home to the OH telling me there had been banging all around the ceiling and a manky old carpet dumped outside.
Oh yes! Surely, at last, the human elephant has fitted underlay. Well I can report that it aint made a blind bit of difference. In what I can only describe as one mans mission to give himself shin splints the thud, thud, thud continues.
So having been very busy at work all day I failed to make any money but again managed another no spend day. Got to do the shoping 2moro though so will have to limit the damage as much as possible.
Just filled out another couple of job applications and plan to do more tomorrow. Didn't get a chance to ring the guy from yesterday but will again get this done 2moro when I've had some sleep and can string some tangible sentances together.
Hi to Ex-spendaholic and thanks for the post. Music Magpie is pretty good for unloading your old gear. They don't pay top money but with the way ebay is going with all the hassel and free postage you don't loose out if you send them the right things.
I am going to attempt some sleep now. Dream of that house. Far, far away from that noisey bast..........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.Debts - Car £0/£3000Credit card £1500/£4250  OD £0/£1500 :T MBNA loan £0/£14000

Ok, so I haven't posted for 5 days. Not good. But really that's because not much has happened.
Work continues to be mundane and the search for a better paid job is not going particulary well. Got my annual review 2moro so am I'm bringing together as much ammo as possible to try and get a rise or at least a bonus for the year.
Have made no money towards my £5 challenge but have spent nothing except for absolute essentials shopping the other day. It's still another £31.55 to find if I want to continue my neutral spending and I'll need to go shopping again on wednesday.
