Halifax fixed coming to an end- can we get better deal?

Hi all, we have a 50K mortgage on a house worth about 200K and our 5 year fixed is coming to an end soon, Halifax have offered us the same rate as we have now ( 5.49%) plus 1k fees on another 5 yr fixed but does anyone know if we could get a much better deal anywhere else at the moment?, or should we wait a bit and benefit from the low SVR? I don't know much about this mortgage business and would appreciate any feedback,
thanks Jonf

I'd go on to their 3.5% SVR and overpaying to get the debt down.
If you want to stay with Halifax but fix for 5 years then you'd be better going for their 5.79% rate with no fee for the size of debt you have.
You might find better deals elsewhere at sites like www.moneyfacts.co.uk.0
