Can anyone tell me what rates of overtime Sainsburys pay.
I had applied for full time 39 hours.but have been offered 20 hours .which I have accepted.this is for a new store opening near me.
The girl on the phone said i could make this up on overtime.
But has anyone else had this. applied for full time and been offered p/t
or is this normal practice with sainsburys.
I ve applied for nightshift as this pays more money .
I am grateful for the job as i am 60. but more hours would make such a difference.

A lot of supermarkets offer people part time contracts then give them overtime, as it means they can cut your hours when they don't need as many people or when they don't have the money to pay you.

Generally overtime is paid at the same rate as your contracted hours, although I cannot state this with certainty for Sainsburys as I haven't worked for them.

With most companies you don't get paid overtime rate until you have passed full time hours. This would mean the hours between 20 - 39 are at single rate. The majority of retailers give most staff part time contracts as it lowers holiday pay costs and if they are quiet can send you home. Know someone who works for Sainsbury and know there conditions are better than most supermarkets. Good luck in your job.
