Debitas - first steps??

I also spoke to MBNA tonight who offered me a deal where I pay them 35% of the outstanding and they write off the debt. Obviously I don't have that money now but I'm thinking that could be one way to clear the debt further down the line. Especially as they said they won't withdraw the offer.
There was also a letter from CrappyOne tonight thanking me for the offer of payment and asking me to send them Bank Statements, My Income Tax return, and a letter from the benefits office. Do I have to sent all of these to them???0 -

No - not unless you want to enter into a payment agreement with them in which case, yes it'd be a good idea. :beer:2010 - year of the troll

Only reason I ask is because I’m self employed. My last income tax return is from 2008-2009 where I earned a lot more than I will be this year as I’m now on a reduced hourly rate and didn’t have any work for 4 months of this year. Also, I’ve been “borrowing” as much as I can from the business account to put into my personal account to try to pay some of my 3k overdraft and stop the ridiculous £1 a day Halifax charges & interest. It will mean I’ll have to take less money out later in the year. This could also make it look like I have more disposable income than I have and I don’t want them coming back to me saying I need to pay more than I can afford.0

Mate if that's what you think then go for it - to be honest i'm not the best person to ask when it comes to paying back debts that you evidently can't afford.
If you want to pay set amounts back then you need to speak to your creditors or speak to CCCS or the likes - then agree a structured repayment plan and stick to it. They must agree to affordability though, thus I say speak to a debt counsellor service such as CCCS.2010 - year of the troll

Just read this thread about Debitas, very interesting. My partner had a Capital One card and is now being chased by Debitas for the debt (fair enough they want their money) but it's interesting to hear about the number of phonecalls. He works nights and when I'm sitting here they will ring constantly despite being told he is at work, the phone then goes 5 minutes later - same person.
In comparison to some of the other agencies he's had to deal with, I find Debitas absolutely incompetent in setting up DD, payment plans etc.
My partner has difficulty in admitting he has a debt problem and finds it difficult to speak to anyone on the phone, he gets extremely frustrated. Because of this he has authorised me to speak on his behalf on most of these accounts. However, the lady on the phone last week simply would not accept this despite him telling her who I was and that he authorised her to speak to me. On handing the phone straight to me, she then told me she would not speak to me and put the phone down on me.
I completely understand they want their money off him but I just find this rude and unhelpful. I was quite willing to make a payment there and then on his behalf and set up a payment plan and she hangs up on me.
Sorry everyone, just venting!0 -
If you check the above templates, you can have your phone number removed from the system so they have to write to you insteadAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Copying and pasting into Word as we speak
