They enjoyed it so much and H loves it so I am going to be brave and get some next time I do a bulk buy at the butchers and give it a whirl cos I'm guessing it's cheap right?
Good luck with all your bits and bobs OP!

Tis indeed cheap, you can buy it prepared and sliced but it's not a patch on cooking your own to be honest. An alternative method to above is to place the pre simmered tongue in an oven dish, reduce the stock from simmering by half and add to the tongue in oven dish, add some herbs and spices whatever is to your own taste, a little dab of mustard and a beef stock cube, cubed carrots and a few spuds and oven cook for 45 with lid on for a good pot of winter comfort food.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
I once had a summer job in a pig tongue factory rolling them up and stuffing them in tins:eek: so i'm afraid i'm out on the tongue! Luckily there doesn't appear to be any:D Actually job is an overstatement I only lasted 45 mins ha ha!:rotfl:
Well feeling brave and buoyed by everyones enthusiasm I defrosted the lamb heart and kidney - there was only one of each so I chopped it into fairly big chunks and put it in the slow cooker with a lamb shank and some chilli spices and a tin of tomatoes. Not really what's been suggested here but I thought it would be sensible to stick to someting we're familiar with for our first meal.
I will look the river cottage recipe up for Faggots - THANKYOU Everyone x
