cash from making cards

I have been making cards for about a year now, but have only given/sold them to family or friends
One good friend of mine takes her cards into work to sell "low key" - she keeps encouraging me to do the same.. but I am not sure that they are that good ??
I guess I could take a few in, and leave them in the kitchen and see what happens..
how much would you charge for a homemade card?
anything else I need to know?

It's worth a go, but bear in mind that it is very hard to make money out of making cards. I used to do it, but now only do the odd commission. The problem is people have a limit on what they will pay for a card and rarely want to pay over the going rate in the shops. I have been asked to make cards that would take many hours of work and very expensive materials, but the person has said they won't pay more than a few quid! Card-making is such a competitive market. I was at a craft fair recently and a girl was selling her cards at 99p each. After the cost of materials she can't have been making more than a few pennies profit per card.
Give it a go, but make sure you keep records of how long each card takes and how much the materials cost. It's very easy to get caught up in the excitement of getting orders and then realising that you are out of pocket.0
