musicmagpie

Hi there,
Quite new to this posting lark, but I've got a question and wasn't quite sure where to put it.....has anyone heard of music magpie? Is it any good? Is it genuine?
Any replies would be welcome.
Thanks

  • Yes, I have used them a couple of times and they are great. The only problem I had was when I lost the postage label they sent me & ended up using an old one which caused a few problems as this is what they use to identify each person & order. Other than that, no problems. I sold CDs, DS games & Wii games.

Yeh it does depend on what you are selling. You often don't get a great price but we had loads of old CDs etc to sell so we have proably got about £200 from them in total and at least it was guaranteed, free postage & saved us the hassle of trying to sell it at a car boot sale at 7 am on a Sunday morning!

I agree - i sold some DVDs when i was having a clearout. I could probably have got a bit more for some if i'd taken them to a car boot - but it wasn't as convenient at the time.
They do exactly what they say on the website, so it's all very easy.

I've used them three times, after I read about them on the mse weekly bulletin
You won't make mega-bucks but it is a quick, convenient way of decluttering. Make sure you have packaging materials for sending off the items -I reused padded bags.
It takes about two weeks for your cheque to arrive.

  • I'd send your CDs off by recorded post, I forgot to do this and never heard anything back from them, by the time I remembered I'd lost the COP from the PO.
I'm not too bothered though as I only sent 3 CDs of little value as a trial :)
  • If you have large quantities they can send you a pre-paid box to pack them in and they have DHL collect. From the research I've done they pay very little, like 30p per CD, so unless you're in a tearing hurry or bone-idle I reckon there must be better ways to turn your old unwanted guff into cash.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. • I recently used MM for the first time, more than happy with the prices I got, took a little under two weeks for cheque to arrive. Will definitely use again soon.
