What to do?

I'm currently getting to the age thats started to make me think more about how its going,I'm coming 22 currently working in retail and have done since i left school and its served me very well.

Truth me told though i hate it and without sounding like a tit i believe i could do much better if i found the right job,I need a job with a salary but i don't really know what to do or how to get some jobs.

I would love to drive for a living but haven't heard anything yet or be a drivers mate for a bit to sound out the job or do a trainnie job for something

I suggest that you arrange to contact someone for careers guidance. You can either do this online with Learndirect or face to face with Nextdirect, both of whom offer a free service to adults.

Why do you think that driving is doing better for yourself than working in retail; there's very little scope for career development as a driver.

Yea i agree about driving not having a great career develoment but if you choose the right job it can have a fair salary and your in someways ur own boss,I just want to find a career without much skills needed while i can even roadworks would do me
  • It's really fair and agree to do as per your thoughts but first of all conform with your salary where you are going to drive and think about it briefly i will really well and good for in future.Best Luck

Depends where you work. In a large organisation I knw of some who have progressed from driver to transport clerk to planner to transport manager and beyond. Or you can, if you can find the work, progress to owning your own truck and build from there. Stobarts started as a small company in Cumbria and now have around 1800 trucks.

At the minute getting a driving job is not going to be easy, but you could start by looking for an office or warehouse job and progress up from there
