Get Jessops to Price Match

but they wont!
I've been to three different Jessops stores trying to get them to price match both the Cannon Ixus 430 and Sony Cybershot P100.
I've found both of them for considerably less than the shop price, on web sites for uk based companies.
They'd knock about £30 of the cybershot, but wouldn't even move on the price of the Ixus 430.
Has anyone ever got Jessops to price match and if so can you give me any tips on how to go about it.
Thanks in advance!

Why do you want Jessops to price match it?
If you can find it cheaper somewhere else then why not just buy the cheaper one?0 -
Thanks for moving it sheel!
The reason I want Jessops to price match, is in the event of something going wrong with the camera I'd rather just take it into a Jessops store than have to package it up and post it off somewhere.0 -
I did the same thing.. got a bargain price from the internet, and bought from Jessops using price match, convenience of High street retailers, and price from the net.
Jessops were absolutely excellent with me. I phoned them as I was at work, and faxed the web page with the price on to them. Five minutes later they had called me back to say it was OK, I went to the store after work, were they had put my camera by, and I was finished in no time. They even offered me discount on memory
They stipulated that it had to be a UK site, so Pixmania were a no-no, but I found some small electrical shop in London that had the camera at just a couple of pounds more and they matched it with pleasure. I found out about the price match in Banbury, and used the Oxford shop in the end, both were OK with it.
This was all about 3 or 4 months back, so unless they have changed their policy, it should still work. Maybe call them first and ask about the price match? Remember to take the name of the person you speak to.All of this might just be an elaborate simulation running inside a little device, sitting on someone's table.0 -

I think its good to be able to walk into somewhere and talk if you have a problem with equipment (or if you can't work the controls!). I answered something similar on the 7dayshop thread...
So - if you buy on the internet where they are not providing a branch or technical help then you get a great price.
Jessops charge a higher price but are providing technical help and branches for you to be able to walk in, look at stuff and talk to the staff.
Given that it quite clearly costs money to provide staff & shops, then do you think it's reasonable to expect internet prices but get the benefits of a shop?
Not trying to wind anyone up, just interested in the logic behing it.0 -
lisyloo,
I understand what your saying and would be willing to pay a little bit more for the convience of using Jessops, because as you state running shops costs money.
The problem I have is that they advertise their price match facility to include on-line retailers and then tell you they can't match it. If this is the case they should clearly state that they will only match shop prices as somewhere like John Lewis does.0 -

I totally agree.
Have you asked for their terms and conditions?
Have you taken it up with their manager?
I would start with that to find out whether they has been any mis-understanding.
If they are geniuinely advertising something that they aren't acting on then you could consider trading standards of the Advertising Standards Agency.
First I would make sure they don't have any Ts&Cs that cover them.0 -
