Dry clean only...best way to iron?

Hi all, foolishly I have bought a dry clean only dress as part of my work uniform. It is a polyester/viscose mix so have just put it in the wash rather than pay £10 every week to maintain it!! I am not even sure why it is dry clean to be honest.
I have laid flat to dry but there are some noticeable crumples and creases, do any experienced mse'ers think maybe a flannel over the fabric and iron the flannel should be ok and not damage the fabric or anything? Bit reluctant to whack the iron on it and go full steam ahead. Thanks in advance!

I think I'd have a go with the garment inside out (just in case of any 'shiney marks')
Try a damp cloth and a warm iron to start off with and see if that has any effect on the creases - only increase the temperature of your iron slowly if there's no significant reduction in the creases.
You didn't have your washing machine on a 'fast spin' did you? With that kind of man-made mixture, I'd definitely use a 'slow/gentle wash and spin' or a 'delicates programme'.0 -
Thanks Olliebeak - just a handwash cycle on a 600 spin. I'd have handwashed it but I had a load to do anyway so didn't want to use 2 lots of detergent. The handwash cleaned it all perfectly as well. I'm off to try that method right now. It has a lining which I think is acetate but I am sure I can lift that away to get to the main body of the material. Thanks again!Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0

I use a synthetic mesh cloth (from one of the door-to-door catalogues) when ironing fabrics that would otherwise prove "difficult". It's been worth every penny!#Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain #We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us #If you focus on what you have left behind, you will never see what lies ahead - Gusteau/RatatouilleGC 2022: £0/£2,500 total spend0

I iron my dry clean only work trousers through a clean tea towel, much easier than a flannel. I think on a low setting and trying to do it when it's still slightly damp, you should be fine!0

I report back a success!! I will have a look out for one of those ironing cloths next time betterware come round!! I ironed from bone dry so next time think I will a)check the label before buying and b) try it when it is just on the cusp of drying off. Ironed on a 1 and results not too bad xAhhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0

Those cloths for ironing are usually in Home Bargains - 2 for £1 and are brilliant and probably cheaper than betterware, etc.0
