    There are, in fact, 7 vowels in the Welsh language - A, E, I, O, U, W, Y. The remaining 21 letters are consonants.
    W and Y are defined as vowels, not consonants as they are in English, although the English language often uses them as vowels (e.g. shy gypsy rhythm).

    The hardest one to describe is the "LL", as the sound is only used in Welsh and a handful of world languages (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiceless_lateral_fricative)

  • My husband is English. Hes a teacher and has to deliver a basic welsh curriculum to his pupils who have social and emotional difficulties!!!!

    He often turns to to my 8 year old for some coaching!!

    He also really struggles with the LL!!

    I think that when you learn another language that you always struggle a bit with new sounds, but my advice is just copy and repeat as much as possible... preferably where no one can hear you ! :(

    I find the next time I want to use it, it just happens
