Over Christmas my mothers dog decided it was too cold to go outside to relieve himself and watered my front room carpet - I have cleaned and cleaned but the smell is overpowering (not sure if he went elsewhere!!) Any idea what I can do? (moving / new carpet not an option :)..... sorry if this is in wrong place wasn't sure where to post!

It's pobably gone down into the floorboards.
Can you lift the carpet and scrub under it?

  • There's some stuff called Urine Off that's supposed to work really well on things like this. It's not cheap though, but it's cheaper than a new carpet and an unusable room :) Biological washing powder is suppoed to work too, because of the enzymes, so a scrub with that might be a more money-saving first try.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

When my fateful friend decides to relieve herself in terrible places..... I use a mixture of vinegar and bicarb. make a paste and then leave for a wee while then sleush off with hot water and lemon juice. It usually gets rid of the smell.

Neutradol carpet powder. Often in the £ shops.

Very effective product on residual urine odours and less elbow grease required!!
