Chest of drawers

I want to buy a new chest of drawers for my bedroom, but don't seem to be having much luck!

The set I am replacing are from Argos and although I know their quality isn't fantastic, these have lasted quite well (I bought a wardrobe from the same range and it's fine and sturdy, but the drawers are slowly falling apart - this could be because I assembled the chest!)

Anyway, I am looking for something that will last but isn't an absolute fortune. I haven't got a set figure in mind as that may change depending on what I find. I want something in beech or light oak and preferably something quite modern looking, but it must be wooden. I want 3+ drawers, preferably large/wide rather than a tall slim set.

The main problem looking around is the base of the drawers, most are the flimsy material that I currently have and although there isn't a great deal of weight in them, they just don't last.

So...any ideas of where I can look that I may not have thought of?

If you're willing to take suggetions for Ikea, I can show you a beautiful set I bought, and they are really really good quality.

    agree on the ikea suggestion

    we have this

its so heavy, you cant move it once assembled - good solid construction, and not too pricey

Ikea is a possibility if I really like them (I live in Devon, so would mean a trip to Bristol for them, unless they deliver)

Hmm, not overly keen on them. They look a bit odd without handles...almost incomplete. I'm fussy :o

I know and I suppose they are modern, kind of :p I'd rather wait and find a set I really like that rather than try and make them what I want though. I've had a look on Ikea and the only set I like are the 'Hopen' but I don't want black and I don't like the frosted fronts.

Maybe if I post some I do like would be a good idea?

I love these but I queried what the base of the drawers were made of and was told MDF, so i'm not convinced they'll last. Plus looking on here, there are some bad reviews of the website.

These in the light oak are nice too, but i'd need to find out what the drawers are like.

These I have seen in 'real life' and they are gorgeous and very well built, plus I can get them cheaper as know someone who works where they're sold. At the moment i'm waiting for a price on the 3+2 set, but know they won't be cheap.

I suppose what i'm looking for is something 'chunky'.

How much do you want to spend? Have you looked at Next and M&s?

That is exactly the one I was going to say, we got them, and the others to match, and they are FAB.

Once you have them assembled it dosent look weird without the handles, trust me :D

Cotswold company (Lovely :) ) have a sale on. Their furniture comes fully assembled, which may or may not help depending on access.
