We've decided we want to get married at a local hotel/restaurant

even thought we originally said registry office.

They have two rooms for ceremonies, a small one for upto 45 people and a bigger one for more guests. Reception meal is between £21-25 per person and we would only have around 25 guests for the meal but I'm not sure if they'd make us pay for more? I need to ring and find out but I'm guessing tomorrow it will be all weekend staff?

Bear in mind if you have given notice already that you will need to do it again at a cost of £30 per person. Your notice will only be valid where you tell them. For example, if you gave notice and said you were getting married at the register office thats the only place it will be valid at. To change the venue you wiil need to pay and go through the process again.

Also if your having the ceremony at an outside venue it will be more money than at the register office. The cost varies all over the country, but it will be more expensive as the registrar will have to travel. You will also need to check that the Registrars are avaliable on the time and date you want.

    Hope that helps,

Give them a ring tommorrow you never know someone who will be able to help might be around!

thanks, we haven't given notice yet, we're off to the zoo in the morning with the kids so my good old mum is going to ring and enquire!

am rather shocked that it will be £300 for the registrar though lol...hmmm...need to get winning some comps ;)

It is rather a lot to have the reg come, to your venue, varies from area to area but is cheaper mid week, a little more on friday and much more on a saturday. We have gone for a friday and its about £300. But more than covered by the fact we got all the room hire knocked off the price!
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:
