Direct Debit & Payments advice please

Hi, I was declared BR on 21st Jan - I had opened a coop account over the phone a few days before, but didnt receive my new account number until today (not got a local branch that I could get to)
I had cancelled my direct debits on my old current account as obviously I was not going to be able to use it.
I have found out today that 3 direct debits did not cancel, and the bank have paid them all even though this has taken me over my agreed overdraft limit. All 3 are for car insurance/mobiles which we will be keeping post BR
Also, I rang to change bank details with disability benefits and they say a payment is already on its way to my old account, it will arrive 26th Jan and they cannot recall it. We cannot afford to be without this money and I'm now scared I will lose it!!
Can anyone advise? I will call my OR on Monday for his opinion on what I should do. I suppose as the direct debits came out the day after my BR and they are for services I will be keeping (not creditors) I could go and pay cash into this account just enough to cover them?
As far as the benefit goes, if the account is frozen I assume the payment will bounce back, but if it's not frozen when it's received, will the OR let me have it ?
Many thanks!

Similar thing happened to me. My DLA was paid into my old Alliance & Leicester account a few days after my BR. I called OR and was told that it was ok for me to transfer it to my current co op account so thats what I did. I guess if those direct debits should have been paid through your new account anyway then you could just ask the OR if you can transfer the difference? It took a couple of weeks for our old accounts to be frozen.0
