Please look at my covering letter

This is the job I'm applying for.....

Lettings Assistant / Administrator
Required for our busy rental department.
This is an interesting & varied full time position (incl alternate Saturdays). The successful applicant will join a small team & needs to have good secretarial/computer skills, a pleasant telephone manner & attention to detail.
Additionally, there is the opportunity of visiting properties, preparing schedules & property particulars etc. A good sense of humour is essential!

My covering letter goes like this……………

Dear Sir/Madam
I would like to apply for the position of Lettings Assistant/Administrator I have seen advertised on the ****** website.
I have worked mostly in admin since leaving school and I feel this has given me the necessary experience to be accurate in my work. I am often complimented on my cheery phone manner.
I am looking for a change in employment that will bring more variety and challenges to my day.
I enclose my CV and look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Yours etc etc

Just so you know I'm 37 years old and apart from 3 jobs I've always been in an admin type job. Not sure if I phrased the telephone manner very well though. People often comment that I always sound happy on the phone. Any thoughts and ideas on better phrasing?

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

I have worked mostly in admin since leaving school (I am career administrator with a over ?? years work experience.) and I feel this has given me the necessary experience to be accurate in my work. I am often complimented on my cheery (professional and upbeat ) phone manner.

I enclose my CV and look forward to hearing from you very soon. (Just add your contact no again - make it easy for them to find your no.)

Also If you can drive, I would add that you have a valid driving licence. I always feel that your covering letter, should be your cv, in one paragraph, so mention, what computer systems you are familiar with (office, outlook etc).

Good luck I hope your get the role.

What about mentioning, if you have, that you have worked in small teams before and have the skills/ability and experience to undertake a variety of tasks and to prioritise/manage your own workload?

I would find out the name of the person who will be shortlisting and actually address the letter to them
