Im selling lots of CDs on ebay. I took advantage of their free listing day. The money will go towards paying off my council tax bill.

I try and make a payment to my debts everyday. Even if it is £1 to one of my credit cards it feels like I am doing something and I know that I will reach my DFW status sooner than planned

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
  • eBay for me too! Trying to work in "goals" So trying to sell until I have a balance of £100 in paypal then withdrawing it so it hits my OD. We need to get our OD down from £1200 before we can tackle the rest at the moment. At the moment I am ebaying anything that is not nailed down!

We are also putting £1 a day into a pot, to open on the 1st Dec. We hope that will pay off the main of Christmas when it comes.

I am also keeping a spending diary from Monday ( pay day) and I am going write down every single little thing we spend on, including that extra pint of milk we pick up on the way back from work etc...EVERYTHING, so we can see where its all going! lol

Something new for me is using Egg Money Manager. You can add all your online accounts with other companies, Lloyds, Halifax, Virgin etc and see all your balances in one place which is quite handy, you can then go to each account from there. So I can now see that I have more savings than debt (0%) and easily move money around.

I'm also making a payment a day (following the thread on the diaries page) and I'm actually following my budget (eg buying car tax stamps, putting the emergency fund actually into an untouchable account etc). I think the biggest new thing has been asking for help to be honest! Oh, and pulling the plug out of the phone :rotfl:

Hehehe, I just like that one :)
  • i like this thread, what a great idea:T the new thing im doing is to use my different payments i get each month towards something, so each month i get seperate payments of wages, tax credits, child maintanence, child benefit and housing benefit, so each one if for something, i used to save a bit from this and a bit from that, but now i know what each payment is doing, i feel far more in control....i hope you can understand what that means...lol....it makes sense in my head anyway!!! :D
  • i am trying to make positive changes in my life so i FEEL better, so that i dont go out shopping to cheer me up too much, dont eat too much, dont smoke/drink too much, and feel like have the energy/motivation to address the financial side of things and follow my budgets etc

That is such a good point. A lot of times with debt comes depression of different levels which can eat away at you so that you have no motivation to do anything as "whats the point? still going to be in the same carp tomorrow" kind of thing...

But when feeling good about yourself, you can start to see a light at the end of it all which in turn spurs you on more...Now just have to practice what I preach! lol
