irregular

hello, i dont claim any benefits except wtc and dont know how much i should be entitled to. i have 2 sons who live at home luckily they are both now in employment - housing benefits ect aware - they have been told (sons) after rent calculations they must pay £50 - and £40 respectivly towards rent - well that leaves me with nothing to ask from them ( i dont think its fair) - i pay food, gas, elelctric, council tax, petrol, car upkeep and all other bills to keep a household going
council tax = 28
gas - 25 -on meter
elec - 15
food - £60
petrol £30 - driving everyone to work ect
= 138 minimum

I work 30 hours approx - 24 hours per week at £6 from one job but other job is very unpredictable regarding hours sometimes none in a week to other weeks being 14 hours at £14 an hour

i currently recieve £36 Wtc a week but no doubt this will be wrong and i will owe thousands - any advise on unpredictable hours please.

basically i work for my benefits, that part i know

If you have irregular hours you will have to give housing benefits your payslips monthly so they can work out your entitlement monthly also

As your sons are working and you're on a low income, why would it be unfair for them to pay towards their food, utilities and transport costs?

Just worked it out, so some weeks if you just work your 24 hour job you will only get £144. But if you do the other job at 14 hours on the same week you will be earning £340. Yes you will definatly need to send your payslips into housing benefit monthly. As the more you are earning the more you will have to contribute towards the rent.
