'Garage' style shelving - any recommendations?

Hi there,

I'm wondering if someone could offer me some recommendations?

As the title suggests, I'm after some of the garage style shelving. It won't actually be going in a garage - I'm self employed and have a garment printing business in a spare (downstairs) room in my house. The large, deep, sturdy shelves would be ideal for me to keep my kit and consumerables on.

Aldi had these on offer a couple of weeks ago and looked ideal: http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/2827_12652.htm (900 (W) x 400 (D) x 1840mm (H) and £19.99 each) unfortunately they sold out at my local store within hours.

I've also seen some very nice units in CostCo which are minutely bigger than the Aldi ones and just under £45 inc vat. For garage shelving they are very smart looking but the problem is that they are flat pack and extremey, extremely heavy (metal of somesort whereas the Aldi ones were polypropylene so I'd assume lighter). Saying that though you can tell that they are very good quality.

Can anyone suggest anywhere else I can look for some good shelving? I know that you can get it from Argos but I've heard the quality is a bit to be desired.

I'd ideally want four sets of the shelving (going on the Aldi and CostCo measurements). Don't know if it matters but the room is (newly!) carpeted.

Thanks in advance,

S.

argos 875/4035 pine shelving. (5 shelves).
    20 quid each.

ive got some here. they were free off a mate. bolted together and screwed to the wall, they are ok.

id say that all shelve items at that price point will be similar quality.
    Get some gorm.
  • Those Aldi ones look good and terrific value, I agree the Argos ones are probably of far lesser quality.

As you intend to position the shelving on carpet, I would suggest securing the top of the shelves into the wall.

Try Ikea. They are pretty good on storage shelving.

I got mine from Machine Mart. Pretty good for the money. If you ask to buy the display stuff you will get another discount.

Another vote for Big Dug - the frames are sturdy powder coated steel and the shelves are sturdy chipboard and the price, including delivery isn't too bad.
