Letting creditors know

After deciding BR was the only way forward I stopped paying all my cards loans etc which I understand has to be done.

So far the only calls I am getting are from one of my credit calls and they started the day after the money should have been paid. I answered the first one and when they asked me to identify myself I said I was busy at work and could they ring me later.

Since then they have rung about 4/5 times every day (apart from Sunday) and I have ignored the call each time (and in fact there number just popped up again as I was typing this).

My question is: Should I just carry on not answering or should I ring them up and tell them what I am doing. My BR appointment is on 9th Feb.

I am just worried that if I keep not answering the might escalate it and go to court or something.

If I do ring them, should I just say I am going BR and have been told I cannot pay them as it would be considered favouring a creditor?

Thanks in advance. (And thanks for all the other advice I have been getting on here).

Hiya, firstly good luck for Feb and wlecome
general rule of thumb is not to tell them, and if they keep ringing just refuse to do the security questions, and ask them not to ring at work, there is a letter template somewhere for asking to only deal via letter.

Its too late for them to do anything now, as your so close to your BR date, so hang in there, if its really getting to you - pick up a cheap payg phone and turn the old one off

You could tell them you are taking advice from the CAB, they will normally then give you 14 days grace away from calls, and when they start again say that you are still dealing with them...

    Not long now.

Same as Doucam really, we told them we had handed it to a third party (Debt free direct) and the calls stopped for a while. After that we just set our phone to ring twice, if it was not someone we knew leaving a message we ignored it. It's rubbish I know, but it will soon be over. Funny I was so much braver once bankrupt, have answered the phone every time and reeled off BR number etc..Should just say everyone I dealt with post BR, were very pleasant and professional. Guess they know their beat!
    Best of luck
