Confused StarDrops Virgin

I am really confused about StarDrops ... do I need to make up a SD solution each time I want to use it or can I make up and keep in a spray bottle to use throughout the day for wiping kitchen surfaces, leave it in bathroom etc ?

I tried to use it to clean bathroom yesterday and made up solution in basin but plug came out and it all drained away before i'd finished - all a bit of a disaster

I really want to start using it but am put off by having to 'prepare' it before using it IYKWIM ...

Thank you

I make mine up in a spray bottle. It keeps for ages like that (weeks, if not more) - always worked for me :D. HTH.

  • Cheers Frugalista .... do you just make it up with cold water despite saying warm on bottle? Do you do half SD half water?

    Thanks again

I have a old spray bottle in the bathroom and another one in the kitchen made up already. Lasts me ages as 1 squirt goes a long way!! :)
  • Thanks Nutty - so it's ok to make up with cold water?

    Thanks again

Put tepid water (it mixes more easily; the water will go cold anyway so don't worry too much) into an old spray bottle until it is nearly at the top. Add 2 tablespoons of Star Drops. Put the top on the spray bottle and give it a shake to mix.
Some people like to add 1 Tablespoon of bleach for the bathroom; it's up to you.
Use just like any other cleaner that is sold in a spray bottle.
If you use more than 2 tablespoons then it will be too foamy.
Also if you put the SD in before the water then it will just produce foam when you add the water and not the solution you want.

There is also one with Amonia which is good for greasy things.

I'm new to it too Norman, but I read somewhere that it's 1 part SD, 1 part white vinegar and 20 parts water - I doubled all this and popped it into a spray bottle and, so far, it's working well for me!

    Good luck!

i mix mine with with 1/3 stardrops, 1/3 cold water and 1/3 white vinegar. I always use a hot damp cloth to wipe it over the surface and to wipe it off the surface before drying with a microfiber cloth.

Although I have read that you shouldnt mix stardrops and white vinegar but i had already done it by then so just continued!

    Hope that helps.

If you look on the back of the bottle it tells you what the dilute ratio is. In a spray bottle you don't need that much. I use a spray bottle in the shower rather than keep buying the 'proper' stuff from the supermarket. Does the same job.
  • Thanks girls - especially Horsechestnut - I'm going to try your recipe.

Thanks again and good luck to Mumof2 too - happy cleaning!

  • I made Horsechestnut's bleach recipe and have just cleaned the bathroom .... smellt a bit 'bleachy' but did a good job of the bath - I think my microfibre technique may need improving as I had a ring of fluff that I kept chasing round the sink :o

I'll make up my kitchen mixture and perservere!
