    Don't forget LIBOR+rate% trackers !

Probably not so popular these days, though.:rotfl:

I wonder whether anyone lost their homes because they didn't check the difference.

Many of the sub prime/adverse mortgages have been arranged this way...the effects of this are still waiting to happen....I cannot understand why this is not being addressed/highlighted as this is going to cause tremendous problems in the future....Then we will really see the effects of the recession....

i tend to avoid products i dont understand!!!i remember back to the time prior to the 1990 property crash--people were over extending themselves with mortgages bought with foreign currencies -i often wonder how that unravelled--it used the theory that the mortgage rates were cheaper on the near continent-i get worried trying to balance lifes balance sheet because of having a split life let alone a life changing debt and currency exchange mechanism

just a foot note to this if anyone is still looking --the svr rates are rising as skipton proved today--i am with the brittania which partners with the co-op-they both seem prudent and well run--so fingers crossed they will just keep to matching the boe rate rises --when i took my mortgage i chose my lender by not only their rates but their reputation and balance sheet-they offered me 4,39 offset with no fees---i dont know what offsets are loli declined
