Kent butchers

I have just had my first delivery from a local butcher that delivers to Kent. I am really pleased with it, the driver was pleasant, it was packed extremely well and the meat looks good. The delivery was free too for orders of over £30 and if I had wanted to I could have had a veg box too.

I thought it might be of interest to other people in Kent especially for anyone who is housebound.

I buy from my local Rooks almost exclusively, as the meat, prices, and service have always been very good. I've not used the online service, but it sounds like they take the same care as in-store. Thanks for the heads-up :)
  • They were local to me when I was growing up living in the Thanet area. I knew they delivered to Thanet but until I picked up a card in one of their stores, I had no idea they now delivered to the whole of Kent. I had three turkey legs in my order and because they didn't weigh enough they added another one so I got four. I doubt if I would have noticed tbh but it shows they are honest too.

I live nine miles from the nearest town and I don't like buying all the meat from the supermarket so I was really pleased to find a delivery service from a good local butchers.

They seem to have quite a few shops across Kent, which I didn't realise until I visited their website some time ago. I can imagine how you felt finding out you could get their stuff delivered to you being 9 miles from town ;)

I'm still in Thanet, by the way :D
  • That's a coincidence, my boys have just finished off bangers and mash. I bought the sausages yesterday from rooks to give them a go. I've never bought from a butchers before but am trying to give them my business rather than tesco all the time! The boys loved them and said they were the best sausages they'd ever had! I can't comment cos i'm vege but they smelt good, lol, so i'll definitely be buying them again. Also it's 10% off every wednesday so it cost me £1.41 for 6 sausages, bargain!
  • I didn't know about the 10% is that in all the stores?
  • Not sure but definitely 10% off every Wednesday in Ramsgate :D
  • Thanks, I will make sure my Mum knows, she lives in Canterbury but goes to Ramsgate a lot.

I used to live in Kent and loved shopping at Rooks. They have some very nice cheeses as well as great meat. Unfortunately they don't deliver to Bucks where I now live!

Really want and apple and custard turnover now...

I'm another very satisfied Rooks customer - in fact my wife and I make a regular, quite long, journey to their branch in Hythe to stock-up every few weeks.

I should add that we have no shortage of farm shops and speciality butchers near us, either - but Rooks quality, price and friendly, helpful service make it a better bet, we find. I believe the 10 per cent deal is in all their branches, by the way. It certainly applies in Hythe.

It's really good to see an old-fashioned shop doing well against the rotten, greedy supermarkets, too!
  • Thanks for the link OP. I have been looking for an online butcher in Kent.

;) Felines are my favourite ;)
