Hi

I just went to get the proscuitto out of the fridge in the garage that I want for dinner tonight and it has a use by of 9 Feb - what do you reckon? Sniff test?
Also found out there a carton of Apple and Raspberry Juice that has a use by of 15 Feb on it. D'oh! That should be ok shouldn't it?
They are both use by not best before but I can't see any real issue?

As we are still in Jan, I don't seen a major problem but the sniff test is a good one.

:eek::eek: I would have opened it first and given it the sniff test. Not a lot can go wrong with tinned tomato soup. In 1983 when my late husband was working in the Sudan the local bazzar in Port Sudan had tins of corned beef on sale with 'a gift from the Chinese Republic' stamped on them and dated 1950.He ate one with his mates one night, and they survived o.k.

Sorry - another question - leftover prosciutto - ok to freeze? Only want to keep it to chuck it on pizza so doesn't matter if it goes a bit funny texture wise..

Yes definitely OK to freeze, I've done it loads of times ( including whoopsied packets right at their sell-by date), never had a problem with it.
