Part Time Hours & Notice

Posted last week about being offered redundancy or part time hours & will give my decision to the company tomorrow as to what I want to do.

I may possibly have another job in the lineup (had an interview yesterday which went well & was told he would make a decision before end of the week), but I don't want to count on it so I'll accept the part time hours tomorrow so at least I have something.

Question is, how much notice would I have to give my current company should I get a job offer after I've accepted the part time hours? I googled this & Yahoo answers came up with 1 week if you've been working part time for less than one year. Of course, its not the most credible source & I can't seem to find anything clean cut on the internet that says this.

If anyone could verify/correct me on this & possibly link me to evidence so I can negotiate this tomorrow, that'd be brilliant.

Thanks!

Your notice period will be in your contract. It doesn't make any difference if you work part time or full time hours. So if you were on 4 weeks notice for your full time job, then you are likely to be on the same notice period for your part time job. However you may well find that they are open to negotiation.

Your notice will not change from your current contactual notice.
changing to part time makes no difference if you accept.

I think you should be offered a 4 week trial to test if this a suitable alternative.

This will gve you 4 weeks to find a job before being commited to part time

DO not tell your current employer you might have another job.
    DO not give notice.

You can loose any redundancy if you do.

Okay, so if I go in tomorrow & agree to part time hours (maybe on a trial basis as suggested), but pending on a contract being drawn up which I will then have to read through. This will buy me time & I've been told I should hear about this job by the end of the week should I be successful.
