Having to reapply ofr my "own" job

I'm a temp employee who is currently undertaking an assignment at my local council. Endless restructuring is taking place and as of yesterday we were told that the job that I am currently doing is to be filled on a permanent basis and is being placed on the website. There are currently three in my team all doing the same role, this will be cut down to two, both of who will be permanent employees- with no more agency involvement.
So I find myself in the position whereby I am going to be reapplying for the job that I have currently been doing for the past 6 months. As a result I'm left a bit confused as to how to approach any upcomming interviews. The council are recruiting for 12 positions all of the same scale, they will then decide afterwards where the employee will be based (the jobs descriptions are very generic and wide ranging) meaning i could be successful yet be placed elsewhere.
Do I try to tailor my answers specifically for the job I am currently doing or base it on the fact that i meet the criteria for the generic role? Has anyone else had to reapply for their own jobs? Any advice?

I suggest you ask your HR department for advice and also your line manager (hopefully they are supporting your application?) - personally I would ensure I meet every single item on the person specification and can give examples of everything listed in the job description to improve your chances of interview & successful appointment.
Good luck!0
