TBF I only switched over when I saw this thread- so didn't see the house- but guess it was a desirable design/ space/ location for that priceYes, but you are leaving out the fact that it was a bloody good house and fresh to the market. Given the time when it was filmed, I think it would have gone fairly rapidly & near asking. The others showed what else you might get down there for that kind of dosh...... err, actually, quite like the place I'm in here....:o
Personally, I think if they'd gone down there on their own they'd never even have smelled that property.
Glad they didn't buy any of the bistros. It was all fairy story stuff, so it would have been a bit too realistic if they'd begun to get their hands dirty. Anyway, that's three years down the line in 'Ramsey's F'ing Kitchen F'ups,' which they agree to do so that they can pay off the banks!:rotfl:
When was it filmed? And how much was the asking?
Got bored before the end... did they not buy any business? We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses. Carl Jung

The house they bought was sold for £300k Jan 08...yes it was nice, but I bet they didn't even stop to ask if £100k+ of value had been added in that 18 months.
Isn't that an opinion that K&P should have offered, to confirm how good the price was?
Don't think it demonstrates a heated market, more a man unable to resist the tears of his wife - perhaps a problem with being on TV, he'd have looked a heartless b_stard to let her cry on losing it?Act in haste, repent at leisure.

It was filmed in summer last year and the asking was £425k. They offered £410k and were told 'not less than £420k' They were going to try to meet half way at £415k, but got a bit silly overnight.
They stopped any more rich people pinching it. Theuy might have found another equally good the next week, or they might now still be looking to match it; it's a chance you take, one way or the other. Presumably, K&P told them how 'good' it was relative to others locally, 'cos they wouldn't have been able to judge, being from Glasgow.
To answer philb, the house was in an area where many baby boomers with cash go in search of 'the dream,' so the market for that kind of house tends to be buoyant. For every good one like that, there will be 20 others, much less good. The only thing against it was its distance from the beaches, but that was probably reflected in the price, and besides, some of us are canny enough to know that a good village beats a seaside tourist magnet hands down for everyday living. That one was near Truro too.
Sjay, they didn't buy a business. The guy put on a good show of being interested & enthusiastic, but I'm not sure what was really in his mind. About 30% of restaurants in that area fail in their first year.
So basically, they had lots of money, went to Cornwall and bought a nice house, but the tears and the banter made it all ....errr.....a waste of an hour when I could have been here!

If there is going to be a new series of this programme then hopefully it shows some average FTB. I wont hold my breath though :rolleyes:0

Wish I'd seen it, that's near me. I might watch it on catchup if my connection is fast enough, but I'll have to watch my download limit doesn't exceed or I'll be locked out until midnight on the 31st.0
