All. I once represented residents in an appeal where we were legally right and the developer was wrong. We proved our case and the developer did not provide evidenced rebuttals for points we raised. They had a QC, an expert tactician.
In hindsight (1) we had been too full of jargon and precedent in presentation of our case. We had thought we were being thorough but the QC used this against us as indicating that we were "clearly trying to find any means possible to stop the development process" and that our grounds for doing so were muddled; (2) the political climate at the time was very much "if you see a space build a block of flats" and we failed to see the amount of power this would have...
There are other reasons for failing worth considering another time, but the QC won by convincing the judge that he had grounds to make judgement in accordance with what was politically popular, and he did this convincing in common English...0 -
WHats happened in here! It was boring and stuffy but at least it was fighting against the money machine!
I think we should get back on track!

Take my advice and save your one braincell for a rainy day rather than expend it on this forum.
The top is off the gin bottle again & this is what Sarah places such importance on............:rotfl:

I've course I'm going to "cut and paste" you pleb. Why would I reinvent the wheel? I am quoting statute and caselaw (I have always encapsulated direct quotes in quotation marks) and using the "cut and paste" function as intended.
I do not find you in the least bit amusing. I am however finding you rather tiresome given that you have still not provided any evidence in support of ANY of your posts.
I find myself labouring under the impression that your IQ is below average. If this is a misapprehension on my part, kindly provide compelling evidence in rebuttal.0 -

I could be a cold-hearted cynic like you... but I don't like to hurt people's feelings. Well, you think what you want about me; I'm not changing. I like... I like me. My wife likes me. My customers like me. 'Cause I'm the real article. What you see is what you get."
Dan1976, it's a quote from a scene in the movie "Planes, Trains and Automobiles".0 -

That's the conclusion I've come to regarding vigilant22, Mark on the other hand seems quite bright, just from the financial industry :-)
I think it makes sense to stop feeding the troll, there's no sense in engaging
As for people who work for the Skipton being sworn at and spat at, while I don't agree with such behaviour, if you get employed by crooks, you should expect a bit of comeback...0 -

I was in the reception of my employer's building a few weeks ago and suffered a tirade of abuse from - to be frank - a complete moron of a customer who believed that the reason his savings interest rate had gone down was because of the bonuses I had personally been paid.
For goodness's sake - our business paid about 1/10th of the bonuses in 2009 as in 2008, and the total of all the bonuses for every employee including the highest paid amounts to about 0.01% of customer savings balances.
In case he hadn't noticed, the BoE base rate has gone down from over 5% to 0.5% and that makes more than a little difference to the rate mortgage borrowers are paying on their tracker rate mortgages. Hence Skipton's problem, which certainly isn't unique to them.0
