The number of people out of work in Scotland is now more than 200,000.
Official statistics showed that 202,000 people are now unemployed - a rise of 9,000 on the previous quarter and 61,000 more than a year ago.
The number of people who are claiming jobseekers' allowance also rose to 136,200 during December - 600 more than the previous month and 36,700 higher than the same time in the previous year.

Never mind though.
At least the houses up there are more expensive.

You have failed to mention that Scotland has the BEST unemployment rate in Britain and 2nd best in the UK behind N.Ireland.
UK - 7.8%
Scotland - 7.4% (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/8469549.stm)
England - 7.9% (http://www.wmro.org/standardTemplate.aspx/Home/OurResearch/Recessionmonitoring/Latestemploymentandunemploymentdata)
Wales - 8.5% (http://www.thisissouthwales.co.uk/southwalesnews/Fewer-people-work-Wales/article-1730627-detail/article.html)
N.Ireland - 6.8% (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/8469803.stm)
Just to put the figures into perspective, Scotland has 202k unemployed, the West Midlands, a singular region in England has 259k unemployed.

Still heading in the wrong direction though...It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0
