I must say I very rarely comment on the forums but I can't think of a better guy to be given this award. Heartfelt congrats Martin. and after your years of campaigning you richly deserve it. I have actually followed you and your passionate words since early Radio 2 days on Jeremy Vine and as a disabled person with a disabled wife, both you and the CAB have been very helpful over the years of fighting for benefits and living on a strict budget. Only once has a pro CAB worker let me down out of seven or eight times and that was simply through pressure of work and caseload and a very nasty tribunal Doctor (enforced and bitter retirement I was told later by a staff member). That problem caused a six month delay in getting the benefit I should have had and even my escort was frightened of that guy into total dumbfoundedness. Volunteers do excellent work but will refer you to a caseworker wherever possible.
As to Princess Anne. I was brought up for a good few of my early years in Norfolk and met a lot of the noble families but not as part of their circle. However, several members of my extended family were frequent guests and others worked for them including at Sandringham. I was very surprised some years later to be recognised by Princess Anne and spoken to although just a guest at a ceremony. She has always been a practical, hard working, and well grounded person even from being a child and I think she does actually take after her mother, Queen Elizabeth. That is just my experience of her and mainly from a distance though I have met her a couple of times and had some varied discussion with her when she displayed an impressive and wide ranging knowledge and an ease with the people she showed interest in whether on her "presented to list" or not. Please allow me therefor to wish both you and the CAB well for the future and before I ramble much further, Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal.
And thank the Lord for spellcheckers and no timeouts on your 'reply to' on my new Dragon system which beats my one word in 2 minutes typing speed nowadays. Just wish I could lay hands on an Asimo :T0
