Freelance FTB 90% LTV - Do I have a hope in hell?

My partner and I are both freelancers working in TV. We are FTBs and have enough savings to put down a 10% deposit (£20,000).
Our weekly rates are £750 and £850. We have varying work histories – mine being a bit more sporadic due to bouts of travelling but usually clear at least £25,000 a year each. We have a written account of both our work histories for the last 2 years. We are both still PAYE and not self employed whenever we are working.

What are our chances of getting a mortgage and if anyone will lend us the dosh what are our best options…HSBC, Brittania, Halifax?

It’s a mind field when you’ve not done this stuff before. I’m turning 31 this year and my partners turning 30 and we are the only one of our friends who hasn’t managed to sort this out yet so the time has come to grow up!

Any help would be soooo greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

I think you are going to struggle, your best bet would be to approach an all of market broker who may be able to help.
  • I'm not long off the phone to an all market broker and asked a similar question as my partner is also Freelance in TV with roughly the same income as you - he didn't think it an issue as long there's proof of earnings over the past couple of years - everyone's circumstances are different of course, but I got the impression it wouldn't be an issue - good luck..!
  • You need to call a whole of market mortgage broker.

The online broker I suspect will enter you as permanently employed and take your wage slip as income evidence.

Be aware you can get a much better deal going direct to a lender at 90%ltv.
Also be aware the online broker will be an insurance salesman.

    All the best.
