Sorry to be a pain, but the expenses part of my self assessment is confusing me ( it don't take a lot at my age! )
I bought a car solely for work for £1200
I had fuel bills for £2000
Tools £450
Other expenses including public liability, insurance, van hire, phone etc £500
Just not sure where to list them on the form!
Would i be correct in thinking allowable expenses are fuel and insurance etc., Investment allowance is tools, and capital allowance is the car??
Any help/advice would be much appreciated!!!

Before you claim 100% of the vehicle running costs, be very very sure that, hand on heart you have NEVER used the car for private journeys. A self assessment which shows no privtae use for things like vehicles is ripe for investigation.
Yes, you are correct, all your running costs are expenses, capital items like the car and any tools over £100 each are investment allowance. Tools under £100 each are normally treated as an expense.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -
Excellent, thanks for that.
Ok, maybe 10% private use as i already have a family car.
So how do i say i used it for work 90% of the time??

You add back 10% of the costs on your self assessment.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
