Warning - Toni and Guy Gift Vouchers

Hi,
I just wanted to alert everyone to a recent issue I've had with a Toni and Guy gift voucher.
I was given a gift voucher by a friend for a post pregnancy indulgence in late April last year, however, I just called the salon to redeem it and it seems that it's only valid for 6 months.
I'm extremely irritated at this as a friend has paid their hard earned money for this voucher and I think it's shocking that businesses like this can simply choose to keep the money and not honour the voucher.
Anyone who's had a baby knows it's practically impossible to get out alone in the first 6 months, let alone go for a pamper session.
I was offered a 'goodwill gesture' of treatments up to the value of 1/2 the voucher value! Not much goodwill there.
Anyway - please be aware when buying any gift vouchers to check the valid date and if in doubt, don't buy!!

Have you contacted trading standards about this? If that they need to be used in 6 months and the date they were purchased is not stated then I think you may have a case. Worth a try anyway.0

Did it not have an an expiry date on the voucher?0

If it did have an expiry date I personally don't think you could complain.
if it didn't i'd perhaps go to trading standards.Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0 -

I'd say worth a try- what have you got to lose? maybe 30 mins max depending on yout typing speed if your sending an email or a few mins hold time if your calling. I'd say its unfair- 6 months is a very short space of time- for example, I know of several treatments which would last 6 months, this would make it near impossible to use the voucher if you'd been given it and just had a special treatment done. It seems like madness to sell a voucher like that- they don't hike their prices every 6 months so why stop all vouchers after 6 months?0
